L. 98–480, title I, §108, 98 Stat. 2240, permitted expenditure of funds received under subchapters I and II of this chapter for administrative costs in connection with programs and activities carried out under subchapters I, II, and III of this chapter. Section 351g, act June 19, 1956, ch. 407, §9, as added Mar. 15, 1990, Pub. L. 101–254, §8(a), 104 Stat. 104, prohibited contracting out or transferring from Federal Government certain activities or functions of Department of Education Research Library.

Short Title Act June 19, 1956, ch. 407, §1, 70 Stat. 293, as amended by Pub. L. 88–269, §10(a), Feb. 11, 1964, 78 Stat. 16, which provided that this chapter be cited as the "Library Services and Construction Act", was repealed by Pub. L. 104–208, div. A, title I, §101(e) [title VII, §708(a)], Sept. 30, 1996, 110 Stat. 3009–233, 3009–312.
